Creativity with Purpose.

Where Ideas Become Considered Design

At The Custom Company, we create considered design for people, brands, businesses and moments that deserve to be represented with intention.

I have always been drawn to the details that give something meaning.

A child’s favourite character. A particular colour they love. A special interest. The little things that make their personality shine. The details of a business that make it feel like theirs. A milestone or moment that deserves to be remembered.

For me, creativity is not just about making something look good. It is about the reason or purpose behind it, and the little details that make it feel personal.

Sometimes that starts with a clear vision. Sometimes it is simply an idea that needs exploring. It might be something for a business, something connected to a special moment, a child’s favourite thing or simply an idea that someone cannot find anywhere else.

That is where I love to create.

Designed Around Your Story

I have always believed that the best designs have something special behind them.

A memory. A personality. A passion. A business with a story to tell. A milestone that deserves to be remembered.

Those details are what make a piece feel personal.

Rather than starting with a template and simply adding a name or text, I like to understand what makes an idea meaningful in the first place.

That might mean translating a child’s interests, personality and identity into something visual. It might mean creating an atmosphere and bringing the different details of a celebration together. Or it might mean taking a business owner’s ideas and turning them into a visual identity that actually feels like their business.

From there, I explore colour, illustration, typography, layout and materials until everything starts to come together.

It is often the smallest details that make the biggest difference.

Creating Pieces That Didn’t Exist

Some of my favourite projects are the ones that do not have an obvious starting point.

A customer might come to me with a rough idea, a photograph, a memory or even just a feeling. Together, we turn that starting point into something real.

A child’s favourite interest can become a design created entirely around them.

A business idea can become a visual identity that feels like a true reflection of the person behind it.

A meaningful occasion can become a keepsake that feels far more personal than something mass made.

A celebration can become a collection of details that creates an atmosphere and brings the whole moment together.

Sometimes the idea is very specific, but almost always, we discover something along the way.

That is part of the creativity.

How I Design

I don’t usually begin with a fixed idea of what something should look like.

I explore.

I gather inspiration, create mood boards, experiment with different directions and gradually work out what feels right. I remove what doesn’t belong, change details, try something else and keep refining until the design feels like it belongs to the person, story or purpose behind it.

Sometimes the smallest change can completely alter how a design feels.

That is a big part of what makes my work personal. I’m not simply following a formula or changing a name on an existing design. I’m responding to the story behind each piece and allowing the design to develop from there.

Good design doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it is knowing what to leave out.

The finished piece might look simple, but there is usually a lot of thought behind it.

Because the goal is never simply to make something.

It is to make the right thing.

What Matters To Me

The things I create can be very different from one project to the next, but the thinking behind them stays the same.

Originality

I want every design to feel like it belongs to the person or business it was created for.

Not something pulled from a template and made to fit, but something developed around the idea itself.

Individuality

People are different. Their stories are different. I believe their designs should reflect that.

A child’s favourite things, a business owner’s personality or the details that make a celebration special can all become part of the design.

Consideration

Good design isn’t always about adding more.

Sometimes it is knowing what to remove, what to change and what deserves to stay.

It is about looking at the whole picture and making sure every detail has a reason to be there.

Purpose

Every project has a reason behind it.

To celebrate. To remember. To communicate. To represent. To create something meaningful. Or simply to make someone feel seen.

The purpose is different every time, but it should always shape the design.

Authenticity

I don’t want to create what I think will get the most attention.

I want to create work that feels honest, relevant and right for the person it is made for.

Different Projects. The Same Approach.

My work can take many forms.

Bespoke products, branding, corporate design, event styling, wedding stationery, signage, print and personalised pieces.

From milestone typography created to mark a first birthday, to biographical silhouettes that capture an athlete’s dedication and journey, every technique has a purpose.

The finished result might look completely different from one project to the next, but the approach remains the same.

Understand the story.

Consider the details.

Develop the design around what matters.

Because good design is about more than how something looks.

It should communicate something. It should feel connected to its purpose. And most importantly, it should feel right for the person, business or moment behind it.

Creativity With Purpose

That thinking also shapes the collections I create.

Our children’s designs celebrate personality, imagination and the things that make childhood unique.

Our business and branding work helps turn ideas into visual identities, printed materials and branded pieces that feel cohesive and recognisable.

Our lifestyle pieces bring creativity into everyday life, from clothing and accessories to designs created simply because they feel like you.

And The Inclusion Initiative gives creativity another purpose entirely.

Designed to inspire. Created to include.

Inspired by real experiences, the collection explores neurodiversity, individuality and inclusion through design. Each piece is created to encourage understanding, start conversations, embrace individuality and make space for difference.

We Don’t Begin With a Product

Someone has an idea for something they cannot find elsewhere.

They need branding that actually feels like their business.

They want a child’s birthday piece designed around who they are, not simply a name added to a template.

They have a celebration, milestone or meaningful moment they want represented properly.

Different reasons. Different projects. Different outcomes.

But the starting point is the same.

We don’t begin with a product.
We begin with an idea.

I listen to what matters.

I explore the possibilities.

I consider the details.

Then I develop the design around the person, business, occasion or purpose.

And when someone has an idea that doesn’t quite exist yet…

I want to be the studio they think of.

Original ideas, thoughtfully developed.
